To the growing list of local men who have laid down their lives for their country is now added that of Pte. T. Sherwin of George Street, Hyde, who was reported as missing in an engagement on the 22 October. In his last letter, which was received before the 22nd Oct., he said he was in the pink of condition, and said he hoped he would not be long before he was back. Information has been received from many unofficial sources that he was killed in action.
