From the Hyde Reporter, 21st September 1918, page 3, column 2:

Killed whilst on patrol duty on the afternoon of the 6th September. He was crossing an exposed part of the street at the time and was hit by a shot from a German sniper.

On the 30th November 1918 Edith Alice Orford, daughter of Elizabeth and David Orford, died of Broncho Pneumonia aged 19 months. Within a few months Elizabeth lost both her husband and daughter.
