A concerned letter from Percy Marland's Mother:
July 11th 1918,
Dear Sir,
Will you kindly enquire for the present where abouts of Cpl. P. Marland 33001. B. Compy, 6 Platoon 9th R. W. Fusiliers, France. For we have received no answer to our letters, neither have we received any news from him, since May 23rd, and as he has never been so long in writing home before naturally we are anxious about him, his chum write to his home to say that he thought he had been left behind, if you can let us have further information regarding him I shall be very grateful to you, my address is as follows, Mrs Jennings, No.5 Shepley Street, Off Mottram Road, Hyde, Cheshire.
From his mother,
Mrs Jennings.
