From the North Cheshire Herald, 14th November 1914, page 8, column 3:

Frank Duddy, who was 28 years of age, was a first class stoker. He had served five years in the navy and had been three years on the reserve. Three weeks before the outbreak of war, or to be exact on the 13th July, he was called up to undergo his initial months training. When war was declared, [sic] he was forwarded to his ship, Good Hope and since then his relatives and friends have not seen him.

In 1911 census Stoker Frank Duddy is shown serving on Third Class Cruiser Josephine (Spelt: Groserfine), located at Aden on the coast of India.

He was serving on HMS Good Hope when it was sunk by the German Battle Cruiser Scharnhorst on 1st November 1914 during the battle of Coronel, off the coast of Chile.
