From the Manchester Evening News, Thursday 29th June 1916, page 2, column 8:
News has been received of the death, which occurred on June 15, of Private Charles Frederick Tempest Price, of the Manchester Regiment. He was twenty-five years of age, and the son of the late Mr John F. Price, county coroner. Educated at Malvern and the Manchester Grammar School, he was a solicitor articled with Mr Brownson, Town Clerk of Hyde.
Captain W. Elstob writes:
Eric Price was killed whilst on sentry duty in the trenches. I was standing by his side, and he practically fell into my arms. He was instantly killed by a bullet through the head, and fell backwards dead without a murmur. I must have only been commanding this company a very short time, but I had learnt to know that Eric Price was one of the very best men under my command
