Lance Corporal Harry Lunn was discharged from military service on 02/10/1917, Silver Badge No. 256770, because he was suffering from Carcinoma (Cancer) of the Stomach. He received treatment at Guildford War Hospital, near London, but sadly died at home on 16/12/1917. Lunn was buried in Hyde Borough Cemetery under a Commonwealth War Graves Headstone. Grave number 2674. Also in the grave but unmarked are his wife Margaret, daughter Florence and her husband Stanley Fitton and their baby daughter, Kathleen Fitton. They had no further children and the line has died out.
A newspaper report:
The death of Lance-Corporal Harry Lunn, late of the K.S.L.I., which occurred on Sunday last at his residence, 32 Grosvenor-road, Hyde. Deceased was wounded in battle, afterwards contracting trench fever, invalided home, eventually receiving his discharge from the army. He was buried at the Hyde Borough Cemetery on Thursday with full military honours.
In the 1921 Cenotaph Unveiling Booklet his name is written as Harry Lunn.
