His Last Letter Home:

Dear Mother,
I write these lines to let you know that I am alright at present, and hoping that you are the same. I received your kind and welcome letter, with post card. I was just going to the trenches again when I received the letter, and when I read it, it upset me. I have been in the trenches for five days and have come out alright once again. I was very sorry about our John’s death. I have received your parcel. I don’t know how long it has been here.

Brother to Private 25806 John Hallsworth. They died within a month of each other.
